As a travel journalist and photographer, rarely with a sensible plan, I chase stories, bad roads and questionable decisions across the planet. Mostly I find myself on places most people only point at on a map. With a weakness for mountains, motorcycles and places where the Wi-Fi is non-existent, I go where the story is interesting and the map gets nervous—and usually stay long enough to get dirt under my fingernails or frostbitten fingers.

Pretty Pictures, Dirty roads – Two decades of chasing people and stories
I’ve been making photographs and creating stories for more than two decades, chasing stories from high-altitude mountain ranges to dusty backroads, crowded cities and places where the guidebook politely suggests you probably shouldn’t go. I shoot skiing, adventure, travel, people, culture and whatever else gets my curiosity going.
My background in journalism means I’m not particularly interested in just making things look pretty – pretty catches me. I want to get under the skin of a place, find the characters and come back with something that actually says something. If it looks good along the way, that’s a tingling bonus. Always with a notebook and my camera close at hand.
